Rio Grande Zephyr: Main Line Thru the Rockies. With connections at either end in Salt Lake and Denver, it spanned the spine of the Rocky Mountains and passed through some of the most gorgeous mountain scenery in the country. The Rio Grande Zephyr climbs 4000 feet in 49 miles from Denver to the mouth of the Moffat Tunnel, then continues westbound under sparkling skies through Gore Canyon, down Glenwood Canyon and beyond.
